".. strands.of nets start snapping.."

Jesus: Move out into deeper water, and drop your nets to see what you’ll catch.

Simon (perplexed): Master, we’ve been fishing all night, and we haven’t caught even a minnow.
But . . . all right, I’ll do it if You say so.

Simon then gets his fellow fishermen to help him let down their nets, and to their surprise, the water is bubbling with thrashing fish—a huge school.
The strands of their nets start snapping
under the weight of the catch,.."
Luke 5: 4-6 (VOICE)

Each of us have been there... needing bright, fresh, hope in the middle of circumstances
that we have little hope will change
... nevertheless, we approach it again and this time.. a miracle...

(Matthew Henry Commentary insights)

Though they had toiled all night, yet, if Christ bid them, they will renew their toil, for they know that they who wait on him shall renew their strength, as work is renewed upon their hands; for every fresh service they shall have a fresh supply of grace sufficient

God will have us to be diligent, purely in duty to his command and dependence upon his goodness, rather than with an assurance of worldly success. We must do our duty, and then leave the event to God. When we are tired with our worldly business, and crossed in our worldly affairs, we are welcome to come to Christ, and spread our case before him, who will take cognizance of it.

"...In place of your fathers..."

"In place of your fathers shall be your sons;
you will make them princes in all the earth.
I will cause your name to be remembered
in all generations;"

".... fully convinced..."

"No unbelief made him waver concerning
the promise of God,
but he grew strong in his faith
as he gave glory to God,
 fully convinced
that God was able to do what he had promised."

"treasures in jars of clay...broken vessels.."

The news of the deaths, precious, treasured lives, broken- is so hard to process. Praying for all of the families of those killed and for mercy for the wounded.

" But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:7-9) NIV

'For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give us the Light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God [clearly revealed] in the face of Christ.
But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves. We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair; hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted [to stand alone]; struck down, but never destroyed;"  2 Corinthians 4:6-9( AMP)

"It started when God said, “Light up the darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.
If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us. As it is, there’s not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!"
2 Corinthians 4:6-12  The Message (MSG)

Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace), Hillsong Worship - No Other Name

"Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)"

All these pieces
Broken and scattered
In mercy gathered
Mended and whole
Empty handed
But not forsaken
I've been set free
I've been set free

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

Oh I can see you now
Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying yourself down
Raising up the broken to life

You take our failure
You take our weakness
You set Your treasure
In jars of clay
So take this heart, Lord
I'll be Your vessel
The world to see
Your love in me

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

Oh I can see you now
Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying yourself down
Raising up the broken to life

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
[2x]

Oh I can see you now
Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying yourself down
Raising up the broken to life

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
[2x]

Oh I can see you now
Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying yourself down
Raising up the broken to life
[3x]

"Christ has promis'd this"

I read the inscription that was weathered
by the 150 years that had come and gone
-hard for me to comprehend the faith
 of these lovely folks.
"Why should we mourn our Daughter's loss,
Since death to her is bliss.
She lives again in faith she died,
And Christ has promis'd this."
The gravestones were of a family that lived long ago. ...laid to rest here, five children and the parents,
that each time they would have left a piece of their heart at this site, yet went forward in faith.

"On mountains high and valleys low
When suffering’s all Your servants know
We’ll share the everlasting hope
His name is Jesus
While joy and mourning have their place
And nothing here is put to waste
Death will die and love remains
His name is Jesus"
